Abjine Media Group – Corporate History
2020

Founding During Adversity

Born from the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, Abjine Media Group began when founder Busiinge Aggrey turned job loss at Vision Films into opportunity. After selling a YouTube channel, the proceeds funded essential equipment – a camera and computer – launching Abjine Productions as a freelance film production venture.

The name “Abjine” honors the supportive family members who made it possible: Aggrey, Busiinge, Janet, Ivan, and Nalongo (ABJIN).

2020

Creative Expansion

In its first year, the company produced over five feature films and more than 200 skits for social media platforms, particularly YouTube, establishing itself as a dynamic creative force in Uganda’s digital content space.

2020

Strategic Rebranding

Recognizing broader opportunities, the company rebranded as Abjine Media Group (AMG) and launched The Black Examiner, its first digital news platform. This marked the beginning of AMG’s transformation from a production house to a diversified media company.

2024

Pivot to Technology

In a bold strategic shift, AMG divested The Black Examiner to establish Host Darling Cloud, Uganda’s fastest, most secure certified web hosting company. This marked the company’s decisive move into cloud infrastructure and web services.

Through calculated divestments of media properties including The Daily Telegraph, Kamunye Online, and The Daily Nile, AMG redirected capital toward building its technology infrastructure.
